I offer training in handgun shooting skills, firearm maintenance, firearm safety in the home, storage, and issues related to carrying your handgun in the state of Florida.

If you do not have your own handgun, I will provide you with a handgun to train on. The handgun that you will train on will not be a .22 caliber target pistol. The handguns that you will train on will be the Sig Sauer P320 M17 and the Smith & Wesson Model 642 unless you bring your own handgun to the class.

I put a lot of thought and discussion as to which handguns to use for training purposes. The two above handguns were chosen. The top of the line P320 striker-fired pistol and the compact Smith & Wesson model 642 revolver. By the end of my course, you will be able to put down a threat with both of these handguns. Whatever handgun you chose to purchase as your personal defense weapon will probably fall in between the above examples.

The instruction that you will receive, will focus on surviving a threat to life situation.

I am a retired South Florida police officer and served in the United States Marine Corps prior to joining the police department. Firearms have always been a part of my life; my experience comes from protecting life and property. I train because there is a need in today’s society to protect life and this is my way to help.

Most of my students are close in age to myself, 63 years old. For the first time in their lives, they felt a need to bring a firearm into their family/home. I did not realize until I started teaching them, what a hard decision this must have been. I was born into a home where firearms were always within reach. Whether it has been the civil unrest of the past few years in America or the October 7th, 2023 terrorist massacre in Israel, gun sales have gone through the roof. People are bringing a firearm into their home with little knowledge on how to use it. I can teach your family how to use that firearm.

Handgun Training Course in Broward County, Florida

(This is not an NRA course)

1-hour discussion on firearm maintenance, firearm safety in the home, storage and issues on concealed carry in Florida. You will spend some of this 1-hour discussion in one of the largest firearm distributors in Broward County. You will see firsthand the firearms and all the accessories available to maintain and store them. During this discussion, no actual firearms or live ammunition are utilized.

2 - hours of live range training with the training pistols, the Sig Sauer P320 M17 and the Smith & Wesson revolver Model 642. If your time permits, this 2 hour block can be extended to 3 hours. This segment of training is not simply punching holes in paper.

• You will first learn how to disassemble the firearm you are using.

• You will learn “immediate action” techniques to keep that firearm running.

• You will learn “low light” shooting techniques.

• You will fire at least “100” rounds of ammunition.

• You will learn how to put a threat down with your firearm.

There are many courses available that provide a piece of paper (certificate of training) that will satisfy the Florida Department of Agriculture toward a concealed carry permit. My training (this course) is not directed toward a concealed carry permit. If you are only interested in a piece of paper (certificate of training) for a permit, then please choose someone else’s course. Will my course provide a certificate of training acceptable by the Florida Department of Agriculture toward a concealed carry permit, yes it does.

1 - USB flash drive containing the course material discussed, contacts for local ranges and additional training available through the National Rifle Association will be given to you at the end of the course.

I prefer one-to-one training and the course completed in a single 3-hour block. I will consider training a family at their home for discussion on safety, maintenance, storage and concealed carry in Florida( no actual firearms are handled in the home).I will then follow up with the live range training at an indoor range.

Range fees are included in this training. (bring your own handgun & “100” rounds of ammunition, then $35.00 is taken off the course fee. It costs me $35.00 if I have to supply the ammunition).

Total Individual Cost: $200.00 paid in cash.

* If you bring your own handgun and “100” rounds of ammunition, then the total cost of the course is $165.00*

• If your request involves training with your immediate family members, for example a husband and wife want to train together in a single session, then I only charge for one person. You will have to give me an additional 1-hour of your time for the live fire portion and you will have to pay another $ 35.00 for your spouse’s ammunition.(or bring your own ammunition)

At the end of the course, a certificate of training is given to you. This certificate meets the requirement of Florida State Statute 790.06 in applying for a Florida Concealed Carry permit.

***Before the class begins a waiver of liability must be signed by you for the entire course. This waiver will also require you to attest to the fact that you are not prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition by any state or federal law. To participate in this course you must be 21 years of age or older, either a United States citizen, a resident alien, or from a country with current Visa waiver status with the United States. You must provide a valid government identification.
