Birds and Men
Birds and Men
Birds are wise enough to be,
tenants of a sheltering tree.
Given song, instead of words;
they can get along as birds.
None can gather more of food,
than the commonest of the broad.
None has even grown so skilled,
as a better nest to build.
Birds may quarrel now and then,
over treasure, as do men,
But on equal terms they buy,
Life’s requirements till they die.
Men are different! They can boast,
He is cleverer than most,
Richer gifted in the arts,
Often that’s where hatred starts.
