Tile Bluetooth Tracking Device.
Occasionally we lose something, our keys, tools, our bicycle gets stolen or maybe a pet; with this small Bluetooth enabled device and your cellphone you might just get your property back.
There are many types of devices that allow you to track people, vehicles and even construction equipment. Some of these devices require a monthly monitoring subscription and cost hundreds of dollars. The Tile does not require a subscription. We will talk about a device called the Tile Tracker that is affordable and does not require a monthly subscription.
The Tile is small and comes in many different shapes. The Tile Pro requires a battery change only once a year. It uses a button battery. It emits an audible tone that allows you to hear it when your only a few feet away. This audible feature can be muted in the Tile app on your phone.
If your recovering a stolen item, you don’t want the tone sounding and alerting the thief that you are near.
The Tile Pro has a distance of 400 feet immediate detection on your Tile app. Your app will actually direct you to within a few feet of the Tile that you installed. Now you are probably asking yourself:
“What good is 400 feet if the thief lives a mile away or the property with the Tile attached was taken to another state?”
Under the above circumstances, this is where the Tile really shines and is different than other Bluetooth or GPS tracking devices. If the Tile is taken father than 400 feet away, then the Tile signal is picked up by any other Tile user who has the Tile app on their cellphone open. Any Tile app that comes within the 400 feet of your missing Tile, will anonymously update your Tile’s location; sending a current location to your cell. This updated location can be miles away or across the country.
When I became aware of this method of location update, I felt that it was then a matter of luck to have another Tile user pass by my Tile.
Well here’s what I learned; when I turn on my app (actually it stays on in the background all the time) it displays on a map how many Tile users are in my area. At the time of this post, my Tile app showed 2,058 Tile users near me, in an area of approx. 10 miles north to south and 7 miles east to west. That’s a lot of help out there with updates to your lost property.
The Tile Tracker is the largest property recovery system out there that you have probably never even heard of.
The construction business uses this system quite a bit. Just ask yourself, how many construction sites do you have in your area.
You can hide the Tile just about anywhere; in a bicycle tube or seat, hidden in a vehicle, in a generator, handsaw or tool box.
The Tile is a tracking system we can all afford.
